A World of Kindness
The Friendly Mouse

A small mouse with a big heart can change the world – one friend at a time. The Friendly Mouse is the story of a field mouse who lives in the city but loves living in the country. There’s just one problem – he’s constantly late to work. On the verge of losing his job, he takes a leap of faith and performs an act of kindness. He expects nothing in return and is surprised and touched when his unexpected act sparks another.

This sweet story of kindness and faith will touch your heart – and it’s a gentle way to share the power of kindness with the children you love.

My son Luke, who is in 7th grade, wanted to show kindness to our elderly neighbor, who is widowed, by mowing her lawn. He enjoys getting to help and she enjoys getting to have someone visit over a glass of lemonade after he is done mowing.

Emma, who is in 6th grade, noticed how her peers were negative about how they looked, so she decided to create notes of encouragement, and tape them around the girls' mirrors in the bathroom at school. Now when they look in the mirror they see notes that say things like: 'you are beautiful', 'your are smart' and 'you are creative'. So instead of feeling negative thoughts, her peers read positive words of encouragement, that bring smiles to their face!

Cole loves to help! Every winter he helps our neighbors by shoveling their walkways and steps. He loves to see their surprised faces when they come out with their shovels in hand, but their steps have already been cleared!

Our daughter Olivia and her friend Caroline decided they wanted to clean up our neighborhood park. They organized their friends and spent the day picking up all the litter. The end result brought smiles to their faces and pride in helping to keep our park beautiful!

My son's 3rd grade class decided to organize a food drive for the Thanksgiving holiday. They created signs and decorated boxes to place at each elementary classroom door. Because of their hard work, we were able to donate 25 boxes of food to our local food shelter to give out to families in need!

About Me

When I was a child, every day ended with books. My mother would gather my sisters and me close, and together we’d escape into the pages of our stories. Books brought me feelings of warmth, safety, and coziness then – and they still do today. As an author, I hope to bring young readers and their families the same feelings.

I’m also inspired to share the power of simple acts of kindness, and how much they can mean to us. Kindness can come in many forms and is sweetest when shared. I hope The Friendly Mouse will encourage children of all ages to give and receive forgiveness and kindness.

In addition to writing, I’m pursuing my master’s degree in social work. With love for Jesus Christ, I am always looking for ways to share kindness, encouragement, and His abounding love with others.

Early Praise for The Friendly Mouse

The Friendly Mouse is a beautiful story about the power of kindness. Its positive message will resonate with children and adults alike. Share this book of encouragement with all the children in your life!

-Michelle Prince,
CEO, Performance Publishing Group

"I loved the Friendly Mouse book! From the beautiful and fun illustrations to the use of different words and giving clues about what their meanings were. This is so important, especially for children that may not have a language rich environment. I appreciated how the author included seeking God‘s help to show kindness even when it wasn't shown to you. This is really such a sweet book."

-Colleen Southard,
Teacher, Speech & Language Therapist,
Children's Camp Director

I love the story and really love the question page at the end. It’s a beautiful book with a beautiful message and I wish I’d had it to read to my kids when they were little!

-Beth Bishop Oelkers,
Kindergarten Teacher
